European tournaments
For the second half of the year we will also have the start of the European leagues, perhaps the most important in the world. In the middle of both weeks, on August 10 to be precise, Helsinki will host the UEFA Super Cup, a trophy that will be disputed by Real Madrid and Eintracht Frankfurt, winners of the last Champions League and Europa League. On the other hand, for the start of a new edition of the aforementioned tournaments, as well as the UEFA Conference League, we will have to wait until the second week of September.
The world Cup
The world of football could not be happier this 2022 as it will close the year with a World Cup. This is one of the most important football events on the calendar, probably the one marked with highlighter for all lovers of the beautiful game.
Qatar will host a new edition of the World Cup, which will be played between November 21 and December 18, atypical dates for this tournament. However, the reason is very simple: the temperatures in the months of June and July, when a World Cup is usually held, are very high in the host country, which is why it was postponed until the end of the year.
Traditionally, the first match of the tournament is the one between the head of group A and the host country, versus the 3rd of the same group (Qatar vs. Ecuador, in this edition). However, this year it will have the peculiarity of breaking that tradition as this will be the third meeting on the first day. The Netherlands and Senegal, the other two teams in Group A, will kick off the most important soccer event in the world.
The last matches of the Qatar 2022 World Cup, matches 63 and 64, will be played on December 17 and 18, respectively. The first of them is the one corresponding to third and fourth place, and will be played at the Khalifa International Stadium.
