What happened on July 20 to celebrate Independence Day?
On July 20, Independence Day is celebrated in Colombia , since on this date the Act of the Revolution was signed, which ended with the liberation of the country from Spanish colonization. This day was decreed in the year 1873 by the United States of Colombia; name that the country had at that time.
Everything happened; or it began, on July 20, 1810, when a meeting between Spaniards and Creoles was taking place in Santa Fé, specifically in the house of José González Llorente, in which there was an altercation over the loan of a vase that ended in the signing of Act of Independence of Santa Fé of 1810.
This episode is better known as " El Florero de Llorente ", which triggered one of the most important events in Colombia for the independence of the country at the hands of the Spanish.
