Find out why International Jazz Day is celebrated

Every April 30, the International Jazz Day is celebrated around the world; a special date that aims to raise awareness about the importance of this musical genre as an educational and promotion tool for peace, dialogue and cooperation among peoples around the world.

Here is how it was born and why International Jazz Day is celebrated on April 30.

History of International Jazz Day

International Jazz Day was decreed by UNESCO in 2011, with the purpose of publicizing this musical movement of great educational value and as a valuable resource that contributes to cultural exchange, as well as dialogue and cooperation between peoples in all the world.

This year 2021, the International Jazz Day celebrates 10 years of being celebrated. For this reason, the United Nations Organization has scheduled a special day with a great world concert. This concert will bring together great artists of this genre such as Herbie Hancock, Marcus Miller, Dianne Reeves, Joe Lovano, Dee Dee Bridgewater, Andra Day, John Deasley, among other great artists.

This event can be enjoyed virtually through jazzday.com, Youtube and Facebook on the UN page. In the same way, during this day a series of virtual educational programs and community outreach initiatives will be carried out in more than 190 countries.

This is undoubtedly an opportunity to celebrate International Jazz Day but also to learn more about this great musical genre.
